WALLER — The Waller Bulldog varsity football team has 10 games over 11 weeks in the upcoming 2023 season.

Here’s where your Bulldogs are scheduled to compete for those 10 games, and two preseason scrimmages.

Both scrimmages (Thursday, Aug. 10 and Thursday, Aug. 17) are slated to be held at Waller ISD Stadium.

WEEK 1

Waller ISD Stadium is located at 20735 Stokes Rd, Waller, TX 77484.

The regular season begins with the Bulldogs hosting Bryan at Waller ISD Stadium (for location, see above).

WEEK 2

In Week 2, the Bulldogs visit Katy ISD’s Mayde Creek Rams at Legacy Stadium. Legacy Stadium is just north of the older Rhodes Stadium. However, their parking lots do not connect. Be certain that you enter the correct, northern entrances.

Scheduled for a Saturday, this is Waller’s first non-Friday game of the season. Katy has nine high schools playing football in two stadiums, requiring games to be played on Thursdays and Saturdays.

WEEK 3

For Week 3 action, the Bulldogs visit Montgomery ISD’s Lake Creek Lions at MISD Athletic Complex. The Lake Creek game is the final pre-district game of the season.

WEEK 4 (BYE)

The varsity Waller Bulldogs have their mandatory bye game during Week 4.

WEEK 5

Returning to action, and to their home stadium in Week 5, the Bulldogs host Klein Forest at Waller ISD Stadium during opening week of District 15-6A action.

WEEK 6

The Bulldogs have a short week to recover, as their Week 6 game against Klein Collins is scheduled for Thursday night at Klein Memorial Stadium.

WEEK 7

The Bulldogs come home to host Tomball in Week 7 action, at Waller ISD Stadium.

WEEK 8

For Week 8, Waller visits Klein on the final non-Friday game of the season at Klein Memorial Stadium.

WEEK 9

For Week 9 action, the Bulldogs host Klein Oak at Waller ISD Stadium.

WEEK 10

For Week 10 action, the Bulldogs host Klein Cain at Waller ISD Stadium. This will be the Bulldogs home finale.

WEEK 11

For Week 11 action, the Bulldogs visit Tomball Memorial at Tomball ISD Stadium.

PLAYOFFS

The top four teams from each district are eligible for playoff berths in Texas. The UIL playoffs consist of six rounds of single elimination games.

Those four teams are divided by student population from the biennial high school enrollment snapshot day, which was last in 2021. The next snapshot is expected this fall, but won’t be used until the next realignment and redistricting that will affect the following two school years of 2024-25 and 2025-26.

Should the Waller Bulldogs place in the top half of the District 15-6A teams, they would enter the Conference 6A Division II playoff brackets. The only question then is whether they are the top team, or the bottom team. This would affect where in the playoff brackets they would be positioned. While both teams would be in Region II, they would start of opposite ends of the brackets and not meet again until much later in the post-season if they both have deep playoff runs.

BI-DISTRICT CHAMPIONSHIP

The first round of the playoffs is for a Bi-District Championship. This is the only round of the playoffs where we can say with any certainty that the opponent would be from District 16-6A. The top team from District 15-6A will face the bottom team from District 16-6A, and vice versa.

AREA CHAMPIONSHIP

The second round of the playoffs is for an Area Championship. Not the “regional quarter-finals”.

REGION II-6A DIV. II SEMI-FINALS

The third round of the playoffs is for the Region II-6A semi-finals.

REGION II-6A DIV. II CHAMPIONSHIP

The fourth round of the playoffs is for the Region II-6A Championship.

STATE 6A DIV. II SEMI-FINALS

The fifth round of the playoffs is for the state semi-finals.

STATE 6A DIV. II CHAMPIONSHIP

The sixth and final round of the playoffs is for the Class 6A, Division II State Championship.

The final week of the fall semester is also when the UIL hosts the state championships of each classification from Six-Man to Class 6A. The 6A Div. II game is currently scheduled to be the last game of the 2023 season, and broadcast with the pre-game show beginning at 6:00 p.m. from AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
